Opsera Launches OpsMailmanager for Alfresco - a complete email management solution

17 Sep, 2008, Reading, UK

Opsera Limited, a leading provider of Open Source software and services, today announced the launch of OpsMailmanager - the only Open Source solution that enables organisations to integrate the storage and search of email messages into an overall document and information management strategy.

OpsMailmanager integrates with the award winning Open Source Enterprise Content Management software from Alfresco, enabling organisations to store and search emails alongside other documents, providing a single view of all information regardless of what kind of document or format it in in.

As the volume of content and data moving around organisations increases, it becomes more and more difficult to find information quickly and easily. Much information is stored on local hard drives, and potentially lost when a member of staff leaves. The proliferation of information being shared in email messages and their attachments has compounded the challenge of storing and retrieving key information efficiently as well as being able to demonstrate regulatory compliance.

OpsMailmanager enables organisations to file and store email information, safely and securely, with other documents in one central repository. Emails can be copied and filed automatically, and are indexed as they are stored - enabling full power search across documents, emails, and their attachments. This delivers significant time savings when compared with the manual filing of email messages, and avoids the hours lost by staff browsing through multiple files and folders on file systems and in email clients.

OpsMailmanager is very easy to use - users can just continue to use familiar tools like Office and Outlook as their primary interface to view both emails and documents stored in the central repository. They can also use the standard Alfresco interfaces to view the stored emails alongside their documents, .

OpsMailmanager uses the IMAP (internet message access protocol) standard for managing the transfer of email messages, enabling OpsMailmanager to work with all leading email clients, including: Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell Groupwise and Thunderbird.

OpsMailmanager is available under Opsera's end user software licence and is subject to the purchase of an annual support subscription, which provides access to the source code, our support team providing a service level agreement with guaranteed response times, support mailing lists and wiki, and technical and user documentation. Customers with OpsMailmanager support subscription receive free software patches, upgrades and enhancements.
